Marlon Hecher, M. Sc. Architektur

Architekt im Praktikum

Born in Heppenheim in 1994 I was raised in the small city Lampertheim near Frankfurt in the heart of Germany. As a child during class I was already more interested in drawing cartoons and sketches rather than following the lessons in school. Growing up I designed and built my first three-dimensional creations in the wood shop of my father, learning about basic building materials and their attributes. My first internship at a local office intensified my interest in the field of architecture. Completing high school in 2013 I decided to leave my home moving to the northern city Braunschweig to study Architecture at the Technische Universität Braunschweig Carolo-Wilhelmina. Before approaching my final bachelor design I was desperate to experience different forms of architecture and foreign cultures apart from the familiar european, westernized way. Joining the architecture Plus program in 2016 I was able to take part in an exceptional year of international exchange around the globe. Starting with one semester of studies at the renowned Tongji University in Shanghai and completing with a six month internship at the magnificent studio by Mathias Klotz in Santiago de Chile. In 2018 I returned to Germany to finalize my bachelor degree designing an Aeronauticon for the famous german inventor Otto Lilienthal. The design was led by the renowned german architect Volker Staab, who then gave me the chance for an additional six month internship at his office in Berlin. I obviously could not decline and had an eventful and educational experience in Berlin. In 2019, I moved back to Braunschweig starting my master degree in Architecture by designing a museum on Helgoland. I enjoyed the cooperation with Jonas Höltke designing a fusion energy research center in the swiss alps and an experimental futuristic courthouse in Berlin. As my final design I proposed a new brewery in a historical monastery near Heidelberg, Germany. Starting my self-employement in architecture I am looking forward to individual and challenging projects in private housing and public buildings.
